Historical Milestones

CCHRI was convened in 1993 by the Pacific Business Group on Health to help consumers and purchasers make informed health care purchasing decisions. CCHRI historical milestones include the following:
 

1993 HEDIS 1.0 released by NCQA; CCHRI formed to assist with coordinated data collection, analysis, auditing, and reporting.
1994 First CCHRI public report card issued
1996 CAHPS member survey project administered and reported through CCHRI
1997 Launched statewide improvement program for diabetes
2001 CCHRI data used for reporting on newly mandated State of California report card
2002 CCHRI initiated reporting of physician group-level Consumer Assessment Survey 
2002 CCHRI initiated reporting of Provider Access Reporting Initiative
2003 CCHRI administered "Pay for Performance" (P4P) "dry run" pilot project for 49 medical groups, in anticipation of 2004 IHA project
2004 Launched statewide improvement program for all patients with chronic disease – Breakthroughs in Chronic Care Program (BCCP)
2005 Patient Assessment Survey (formerly Consumer Assessment Survey) moves to adopt A-CAHPS instrument, thereby allowing “drill-down” to the physician level.
2006 Selected as one of six national Better Quality Information for Medicare Beneficiaries (BQI) Pilot sites to measure physician- level performance
2007 Produced physician-level clinical measures based on aggregated data from the 3 largest PPO plans and Medicare
2008 The first Physician Performance Reports were shared with health plans, medical groups and almost 20,000 physicians in California.
