
Patient Assessment Survey (PAS)
The Patient Assessment Survey measures patient experience at the physician group level. The publicly-reported results are used by physician groups for quality improvement, by consumers for physician group selection, and by health plans for determining quality-based payments through the Pay for Performance initiative.

A number of physician groups also administer the PAS Doctor Survey, whose results are available only to the group, to obtain patient experience results at the individual physician level for performance improvement and recognition activities.

The PAS Project Committee provides guidance to CCHRI about the survey contents, patient sampling rules, results reporting and other PAS methods issues.
CCHRI Executive Committee roster
The CCHRI Executive Committee provides strategic project oversight. Executive Committee members represent physician organizations, health plans, purchasers and consumers.

- California Office of the Patient Advocate (OPA)
OPA is an independent State of California office charged with informing and educating consumers about their rights and responsibilities as HMO enrollees. PAS survey results appear in the annual Office of the Patient Advocate (OPA) Quality of Care Report Card.
- California Quality Collaborative (CQC)
CQC is a healthcare improvement organization dedicated to advancing the quality and efficiency of patient care in California. PAS survey results along with patient experience data available through other survey efforts are used in CQC’s performance improvement work.
- CSS PAS project
CSS is the PAS project survey vendor. The CSS website is a resource for project status information during the data submission phase of the project.
- Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA)
IHA manages the California Pay for Performance Program. The program rewards participating physician organizations based on their clinical, systemness and patient experience performance. PAS Survey results are used in the IHA performance program.
